And that’s two! Here’s a new review dedicated to Bouillon République, which, go figure, I’ve never been to before. “How?” you say to yourself, yes I know it may seem surprising, as I’m a big fan of franchouillarde brasseries, friendly and cheap, but what can I say, Paris is a big city and I’ve only got one stomach.
For this second culinary trip, I had the pleasure of discovering this new address at the foot of the Place de la République on the occasion of my beloved’s birthday. Place where we first met two years ago, but that’s a story that deserves its own article, which I’d be happy to tell you if you’d leave me a little heart below.
As I’m often told, I’m a Bree Van de Kamp lookalike, so booking and scheduling from A to Z is a must. After waiting a few minutes at the entrance, we walked through the doors of this more than spacious restaurant, in stark contrast to its Pigalle neighbor.
Seated at the back of the room, we were able to take advantage of the calm for a little tête-à-tête before the 7 p.m. kick-off. Ready, set, order! We set off on a gargantuan marathon of three starters, including a plate of prawns, a country terrine and eggs mayonnaise with summer truffles.
As soon as we’d gobbled up our food, our charming waitress took it away so we could move on to the main course. On the menu: boeuf bourguignon-coquillettes for Monsieur, fish and French fries with tartar sauce for Madame.
Phew, I can hardly finish my plate! Would it really be reasonable to indulge in dessert? I wouldn’t know me well if I thought otherwise. Let’s go! We embark on the sweet road and opt for the aptly-named “Chouchou” café and the indestructible brioche perdue with caramel and whipped cream.
All set for the next fortnight, we’re already outside. The perfect moment to enjoy a little digestive walk before rushing off into the metro corridors in search of a new address to discover…
