DECORATIONS IN MY LIFE

WELCOME HOME #1

ENGLISH VERSION :

Today is a great day because if someone had told me a few months ago that in this new year, I would be writing an article about this house, I surely would not have believed it. For those of you who have been following the blog for a while, you’ve already read the few posts about my previous apartment which, let’s be honest, was relatively small.

In my first article entitled Home Sweet Home, I showed you how to decorate a studio apartment in a beautiful and efficient way to optimize the space, then in December, I shared my Christmas decorations in my article Mon Beau Sapin and finally, I told you about my life since 7 years in 18m2.

Last October, I briefly mentioned my move and the radical change that this New Beginning had brought about. But since then, no more news on this subject and for cause, a real lack of time. I had the whole article in mind but I couldn’t get to it. And here we are already in 2022 with 3 months of delay but a ton of photos and inspirations to share with you to make up for it.

Here are the elements that inspired my choice of furniture when it was time to fill my 27m2 of first floor (10m2 more than my old apartment). Wood and fabric furniture with a fresh country feel were definitely my favorites and I must admit that it was pretty hard not to jump on the current trend.

Because yes, for once, the furniture trend in France matched my tastes. And I’m obviously not talking about that infamous Scandinavian style that we see everywhere, but this very “Nancy Meyers movie” spirit with light, bright and pure furniture, which makes you want to escape to the seaside.

For the living room, always in a natural and vegetal spirit, adding touches of greenery here and there was essential for me and the advantage of having waited a long time to move, is that these elements were already in a corner of my head. The installation of this decoration was thus all the easier!

My budget not being extensible, I still opted for the recycling of my old furniture because it was well preserved and very practical. My little toad is still there, my bookcase is still as strong as ever to support the mountains of books I accumulate every year and my couch used to be my bed and is still ideal to welcome my friends on the road.

For your information, the curtains and cushions were handmade by my sweet mom who recently discovered her sewing skills and had the patience and courage to sew everything with her competition machine. It was a dream for me to have unique curtains that could not be found in stores and it is now a reality!

I had to go to Emmaüs where I found these two small nesting tables perfect to serve aperitifs or snacks depending on the time of day.

In the emotion/recycling sequence, I also recovered the secretary that my parents had given me for my 10th birthday and on which I did my nails (and from time to time my homework) and that I had missed terribly. So it was obvious to find a special place for this old friend.

And finally, I was looking for an efficient and ergonomic system to store my army of shoes at a lower cost; and I must admit that the few pieces of furniture I had found were frankly out of my reach and would have taken up way too much space. So, while browsing Amazon, I made the best investment of this move for the shoe addict that I am: these small transparent shoe boxes, perfect to store and organize your shoes according to the seasons.

In short, no surprise regarding the general decor and my unconditional love for flowers and plants of all kinds. By the way *SPOILER ALERT* because I’m also preparing an article about my exterior because yes ladies and gentlemen, I’m lucky enough to enjoy a charming piece of land envied by all the inhabitants of the Paris region.

By the way *SPOILER ALERT* because I’m also preparing an article about my exterior because yes ladies and gentlemen, I’m lucky enough to enjoy a charming piece of land envied by all the inhabitants of the Paris region.

But while waiting for the summer and the first rays of the sun to enjoy this pretty garden, I give you an appointment next month for a new episode of “Welcome Home”.
