IN MY LIFE MIND & SOUL

UN OEIL SUR LA MONTRE

Chers amis,

Dear friends,
You may not know it, but the last few months have been an opportunity for me to get a head start on writing my articles and creating new posts. Many of the posts you have seen on the blog were already ready for several weeks (or even months) and when it came time to resume writing after a much appreciated break, motivation and envy were not there.

I didn’t want to force myself and thus “lay” sloppy items, but I still had a feeling of guilt. That little voice in the corner of my head blaming me for not being as active, as creative as I used to be.
And all this made me think about a famous notion that emerged some time ago now – especially with the rise of social networks: productivity.

I was aware of this a while ago, but it became obvious to me during the lockdown. This period we were given to live through was more than disturbing and we tried to tame it in our own way. The media (TV, newspapers, social networks…) were quick to give us advice and resolutions to keep up the pace and lose weight until we could go back to work and get back to our daily routine.

Moreover, I follow the adventures of many public figures and these words come up in almost every one of their content. You have to be efficient, effective, productive. I’ve been one myself for years, always keeping an eye on the clock, anticipating the next task, almost forgetting that there is a life outside of work and that we have the right to enjoy it. It took me years to understand that enjoying the time you have, even losing it sometimes, is not a big deal. And that you won’t be less intelligent, less hard-working, less respectable if you take time for yourself.

So if it’s my turn to give you a piece of advice: once you’ve finished reading this article, which I hope you’ve enjoyed with all my heart, put down your phone, your tablet or your computer, look at the time and ask yourself what you want to do with the time you have left.
